People who can even reach 110 wpm are probably a rare breed.

As the title says what is the max possible typing speed that a person can achieve( no cheats ) ? just curious..
i have been trying to get to 100 wpm but i find it hard , the max i could reach is 98 wpm . i see people reaching up to 190 wpm , is that even possible ?

It's difficult to know what the potential maximum speed is. Only a few typists have legitimately reached speeds of 200+ WPM. The highest score is 220 WPM, achieved in the English normal mode by Sean Wrona. I think this record will stand for a long time and is going to be extremely tough to beat, even by Sean himself.

Thanks for your reply :) , and hey i finally reach 106 wpm yesterday after trying for few days , i was too lucky that one time can't reach it again lol

Is this good?

I'm 13 with an average of 60. Is that fast for my age? :?:

60 is fast for anyone. Many of us find it hard to even reach 50 to 55 wpm.

For a long time I've been certain that registered users type at a higher average speed than unregistered users. And now it's confirmed. While mailing our site admin Christian on another matter I got this information:

Average speed English normal mode

All users: 40.4 WPM
Unregistered users: 39.3 WPM
Registered users: 56.4 WPM

As you can see there's a significant difference. Here's a few factors that might explain why:

  • Registered users are more likely to know touch typing
  • Registered users practice more and therefore improve more
  • Registered users do more tests at a higher level than the average unregistered user (see points above)
  • Unregistered users are more inclined to do abnormally low tests on purpose

What is the percentile chart for wpm? I average 65 wpm without having taken any keyboarding courses, I actaully just found out about the term "wpm" today, lol. What wpm does it take to be in the 99th percentile?
What I want to know is the percentiles from 70 and up and the wpm. Thanks!

It really depends on which language you type in. In the more common languages you have to type faster to reach the hihger percentiles than in the less common languages. In Norwegian I think you only need around 100 WPM to reach 90+ percentile. Possibly even lower.
