Another bug.

Post by chimchim » Fri Mar 29, 2013 4:13 pm

Pretty self explanatory. 1st place is not the Winner.

Crazy bug ...

This happens sometimes when the first two competitors have the same WPM but different CPM. The winner is not always the one who has the highest CPM, which is not normal.

But there, an illegitimate win with such difference in WPM, I never seen that.

This has happened already 3x to me Chim haha :( Decided not to post this as a bug because of the following
I guess the winner gets decided at 0:00, like qbZ says.
It is possible to start typingat 0:30 and you can still type even if the counter has passed the 0:00.. but the Winner is decided then already, your score will still be uploaded but it is too late.

I know it is annoying, maybe it will comfort you that this has happened 3x to me already (;

Hi guys :)
what LARSSS says makes sense. I haven't fixed this yet, as I tend to wait for these things until they become a problem (and apparently they are now a problem :)).

I will just reduce the time limit by around 1 minute, I hope its not too confusing when the test is over and the winner is not yet decided (as there will be a one minute gap).

well, what I would prefer is that it is not possible to start typing anymore at 0:59. That would make more sense since a competition takes 24 hours, not 24:01 minutes.
Of course, people who start typing at 1:01 will just finish their test with 0:01 left, and score will be uploaded and if they have the highest score they are the winner.

This equates to prevent starting a test at 00:00:59 and therefore to stop competition at 23:59:01, not 24:00:00. Don't forget that the first result of the competition can be obtained at 00:01:00 at the earliest. As long as there is a timer, one second or more, it seems logical to be allowed to start and finish a test so that the last score is recordable at 24:01:00 at the latest. In this way, we will really have 24 hours for competing.

All this aside, there seems to be a problem with the transition to Daylight Saving Time. Competitions disappear from the list and the winner is decided while there are still 1 hour at the timer.

Confirmed daylight saving time bug.
Click the following link for evidence :D

As you can see I am announced as winner in this competition, with still 54 minutes to go.
This competition also doesn't show at the typing competition home page.
Competitions with 1 hour to go and less disappear from the main page
