Cheaters

Post by Linsk » Mon Dec 24, 2012 2:56 pm

Hello fellow typists,

Think you've spotted a cheater?

Please report here any suspect user that you find by giving a link to his profile. If cheating takes place in a competition, please give also the link to the corresponding competition.

Thank you for your help.

Something pretty suspect:

Whenever i beat this guy (http://10fastfingers.com/user/21561/) in a competition, literally within 2-3 minutes a fresh account with 0 tests taken / words typed will show up and blatantly cheat/hack the competition. This has happened twice tonight, very suspiciously. The first time my valid score of 161WPM was wiped along with the obvious cheat. Now, again, I have beaten the guy's score and - alas! - enters a fresh account typing 210WPM.

Please look into this!

Hi aaroninky, :)

About User 21561 I see nothing wrong. But the users 234788 and 235533 are clearly cheaters and now banned. Please give also direct links to the suspicious competitions if there are others. Thank your for your report.

I apologize in advance for posting this here. I was not so sure how else to ask about this and I did not want to clutter the forum with a new thread.

After a couple of errors where I had a bloated WPM (it was a somewhat ridiculous number like 400-500, which I think was a result of me having too much computer activity going on at the time, or it could have something to do with how WPM is calculated in Japanese typing and switching between Japanese and English typing modes/tests ), my name and score can no longer show up in competitions, even though I get reasonable results now.

This saddens me greatly because I was having such a fun time competing and trying to beat my personal bests.

Is this only a temporary restriction or will I never be able to show up in rankings again? This is somewhat old account and it would be a shame to have to part with it. Again, I'm sorry if this is too irrelevant here. At any rate, please delete this post if need be. Thank you for your consideration and reading this.

This is my account:

Edit Jan 01, 2013: Thank you, it looks like it's been resolved.
Edit Jan 03, 2013: Argh, it seems to have happened again. Somehow I got a WPM above 400 in an English competition and I'm ousted. It might have something to do with me going back and forth between Japanese input and English input. I guess there isn't much I can do if this problem randomly occurs somehow.

He is trying to steal my victory =o
And he is also scoring high wpm's in a few different languages, I think it's a cheater but not entirely sure.

LARSSS

Unfortunately he managed to win four competitions before he was banned.

Linsk

Were there a lot of cheating going on around midnight UTC new years eve? Did you ban anyone at this time?

@Coziest: You're welcome.

@LARSSS: User 237154 banned.

@ZappX: I have not seen more cheating than usual but I only looked in the early evening and the next morning. I have not banned anyone around midnight, as I was celebrating the new year.

Ok, I was cheated out of a win in a competition around this time, but I'd rather PM (no access) or mail this stuff, instead of taking up forum space.

But I have some questions regarding banning cheaters:

1) What are the implications of a ban?

2) Should users cheating in a normal test, but have participated in no competitions, as a general rule be banned?

3) Should a user cheating in a normal test be removed from all competitions taken, even if it is unclear that the user cheated in those competitions?

4) When removing a cheater from competitions, does that include all, or just the last 10?
