Leo was the very last boy left in the whole wide world, living in a house made of mismatched wooden crates right in the middle of a city where the flowers grew through the cracked sidewalks. Every morning, he would climb to the top of the highest skyscraper, which was now more of a giant playground filled with moss and friendly stray cats, and he would shout a cheerful "Hello!" to the echoing wind just to hear a voice return to him. He spent his days painting colorful murals on the sides of gray buildings, teaching the squirrels how to play hide-and-seek among the rusted streetlights, and reading stacks of dusty adventure books aloud to the breeze. Though he sometimes felt a bit lonely when the sun dipped behind the horizon, he knew that the world was still full of magic, and as the guardian of all the toys, books, and treehouses left behind, he decided that his job was to make every single day a grand, happy celebration until the stars twinkled awake to keep him company.
