The craze for travelling that we find developing increasingly in our country is doing more harm than good. Many Indians go abroad for the purpose of learning latest of developments in different branches of knowledge, specially in natural sciences and technology but when they come back to their mother country are no better than what they were when they had gone abroad. Travelling in different parts of the globe, they merely are different dishes, came across different kinds of peoples and either they learnt nothing or what they learnt is nothing but bare imitation of foreign ways of living had foreign modes of the globe for the purpose of study and of can do us no doer. We should borrow good things from whatever country we can but should adopt all the borrowings to the spirit of our own culture and our own way of life. Emerson's warning to his countrymen not to imitate Europe holds good for us also, reminiding us that blind imitation will result in cultural decandence, "our day of dependence, our long apprenticeship to the learning of other lands, draws to a close."
