'Before his time', many came to this conclusion as Huxley wrote 'A Brave New World', and although this opinion may be correct, I posit the question, Which great mind wasn't ahead of his/her time? All influential thinkers, especially in the realm of philosophy, challenge the ideas and presuppositions of their generation. So of course they're ahead of their time. If they weren't, they wouldn't be of such a distinguished and remembered class. What makes these great thinkers so rare is their ability to not be concerned with conformity or the supposed 'universal truths' that everyone else takes as unmovable. They aim to challenge the establishment, they don't fear repercussions for their wild and new ideas. Society could learn a great deal from thinkers such as them, but will we?.....I think not :(
