The patient is a 65 year-old-male who presents to the ED complaining of chest pain that began approximately 4 hours ago while he was mowing his lawn. Symptoms have been constant since onset and he rates them as severe. Patient reports the symptoms are located in the left side of his chest with no radiation and describes the quality as sharp. Per patient, he had a cold-like illness 2 weeks ago, which has since resolved but denies any associated abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting shortness of breath, fever or swelling in his legs. He also denies any recent trauma or injury to chest. Symptoms are slightly improved by remaining still and exacerbated with deep inspirations. He denies history of similar chest pain. Pertinent medical history includes hypertension and high cholesterol. He denies prior stress test evaluation.
