Once a poor wood-cutter was cutting a tree on the bank of a river. By chance his axe slipped from his hands fell into the river and lost in the water all at once. He was too poor to buy a new one, He began to cry. Mercury, the god of water felt pity and appeared before him with a golden axe. The honest wood cutter refused to take it as his axe was not so beautiful. Then the god disappeared in the water for sometime. He brought out a silver axe and asked the wood cutter,:Is it yours" said," yes it is mine.," Then he held out his hands to take it. The god was pleased with the wood-cutter at his honesty. HE gave him all h three axes as a reward. Moral: Honesty is the best policy
