Quora is addictive.
If I don’t write a few answers on Quora every day, I feel incomplete.
Quora is usually the first application that I open on my mobile in the morning.
I also keep opening Quora during the day every hour to read the comments on my answers.
However, my relationship with Quora had been mutually beneficial one.
The questions on Quora provokes me to think creatively and write best answers.
My answers are read a liked by many fellow Quorans who write beautiful and encouraging comments on my answers. For example, I received the following comments today itself.
I learn new things and often develop a new perspective when I write or read questions or comments on Quora.
I have answered over 3700 questions till now and I have grown up as a writer thanks to Quora.
I like Quora so much that I have to control myself using too much of Quora, so that I don’t lose focus of my other activities like reading, writing a new book, preparing notes or lessons for Awdhesh Academy.
I use the following methods to keep myself away from the Quora addiction.
1: Upper Limit for Writing Answer
Just like I have fixed upper limit of chapattis (Indian bread) for my meals, I have fixed a limit of 5 answers a day for Quora. Once I am done with it, I write no more answers unless I have nothing else to do.
2: Allot Prime Slot for Other Things
My favorite time for writing is in the morning. However, if I write my answers in the morning, I get little time for other important work throughout the day since a lot of time is spend on reading and answering the comments as well.
Hence, if I have other important work to do, I allot the best time slot for it and use Quora when I am usually not doing much productive work.
3: Using Quora as a Charge-up
Quora charges me when I am feeling bored. Hence, I keep using Quora as a break, when I finish heavy work. I feel fresh after using Quora for some time and get ready to slog again.
4: Skip Quora
Sometime, I decide to skip Quora for the full day deliberately to complete other works. Only when all my allocated work is over by evening or night, I open Quora for small time and answer one or two questions.
My resolve is not to break the habit of writing on Quora.
It is difficult to form a good habit.
It is quite easy to break it by skipping it for a few days.
Nature abhors vacuum.
If I don’t give time for Quora, something else shall fill this time.
Let me, therefore, continue with a bit of my Quora addiction until I find a better addiction to replace it.
