The Supreme Court on Monday refused to ban the order of the Madras High Court on the ban on the Tackle app. The Madras High Court ordered the central government to ban this app because of concerns about access to pornography.
The court said that order of the Madras High Court is merely an interim order and he will hear the matter on April 16. The bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that he is keeping the matter open for consideration later on and will next hear it on April 22.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared in behalf of Bite Dance, a proprietary company owned by Tikat in this case. He said that this app has been downloaded more than a billion times. Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has ruled one-way in this case in the absence of the other party.
He said that the court did not issue any notice in this regard and issued the order without hearing his arguments. The bench said that this matter is currently under consideration of the High Court and order of ban is merely an interim order. The bench said that we are not closing the matter. First let the high court consider the matter. We will next hear this on April 22.
The Madras High Court had directed the Central Government to ban the ban on Tikkab in its order on April 3.
