I think the problem with basketball today is that there is too much showing off.
Players have forgotten the fundamentals, instead favoring multi-million dollar contracts and risky on-court behavior.
I know, because I used to be one of those players myself. Two years ago I was dismissed from my park league on account of unsportsmanlike conduct
after I did a 360 off the hood of an icecream truck and finished it with a tomahawk slam.
Now, you see, a tomahawk slam wasn’t that unusual for me, especially for a pickup game.
But I dunked so hard, posterized my opponents so badly that I had broken the rim, and shattered the backboard.
As I watched the shards of glass rain down on my opponent's heads, as well as the heads of my own team, I knew my days in the park league were numbered.
If it weren’t for that, I might have gone pro.
