However, upon analysing your poem, one of the aspects of your work which I struggle grasping my head around is your genuine friendship with women. You utilize an extensive amount of female characters but seem to neglect any literary work produced by a female author. By my reckoning, it should not have anything to do with the lack of literature written by women, since there is plenty of work from Mary Wollstonecraft, Charlotte Brontë, Jane Austen and many others. A possible explanation could lie in a desire of yours to outcompete other writers, as seen by your frequent use of intertextuality. I interpret this as you following in the footsteps of Virgil and Dante, in an attempt to vanquish other writers’ work. Would this then indicate that you simply see female writers as weaker opponents? If you consider yourself to be a dear friend to women, why silence their work? Should outcompeting other writers not be about originality and changing the norms, rather than fearing change. From my perspective, it looks as if you are scared of change, even though your style of writing suggests otherwise.
