I recently read a book called, 'The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.' It's a book about the holocaust. I personally recommend you to read it, even if you don't like reading about these things, because you learn about the reality of what happened and the suffering of the Jews. This is about a boy named Bruno who is a german boy, the son of a high rank german officer. They lived in Berlin (the capital of germany). One day Bruno found out they were to move many miles away, because of his father's job. And he's even more shocked when he finds that his house is in the middle of nowhere. But when he looks out his bedroom window, he finds a long fence stretching farther than his eyes could see. On the other side of the fence, there seemed to be strange farmers (to him. But really, they were the Jews in the concentration camp). For months he didn't have anyone to play with and nothing to do, until one day, as he was exploring his side of the fence, he saw a boy on the other side named Shmuel. He was a Jewish boy wearing striped pajamas (the uniform). Bruno went there every day and all they did was talk. They did that for nearly a year. But one day, Bruno's mother decided they were moving back to Berlin. She thought that that place was no place to raise children. Bruno didn't want to leave Shmuel, but he had to go. The night before they left to Berlin, Bruno found a different way to say goodbye to Shmuel that will change, his life, Shmuel's life, and the lives of the people who love him. I love this book because it made me see things i had never seen before. And for the things i already knew, the book made me see them in a different way. However the story ends, it teaches you a lesson. One, that you will not learn in school. You really should read it. You shouldn't try to hide from the reality of what had happened in the past. Use the past, and learn from it.
