To the Nile is a poem written by the poet John Keats and this poem is about how people are treating the Nile like a god when it is in fact a normal river. Chief of the Pyramid and Crocodile In this line we can see the word pyramids and crocodile is capitalized and they are used as symbols to create beautiful visual imagery. And in this line what they are conveying is that the Nile is the chief or the master of the pyramids and crocodile. Nurse of swart nations since the world began In this line the poet compares the Nile to the nurse of black people because the Nile gave life to the Egyptian and African civilization. The poetic technique simile is used in this line. And I think it makes the line more exciting and more detailed.
Art thou so fruitful? Or dost thou beguile In this line archaic language is used to convey a meaning full message. It conveys that even though there is a massive river there’s still a big dessert around it this is what the poets trying to explain in the poem even though the Nile is treated as a god it’s still a normal river because if it is a god it can make the dessert go away and make it into a forest This poem is a truly eye opening and mind-blowing poem about the truth of the Nile. And the poetic techniques make the poem more interesting and understandable I truly think that the writer has done a good job with the poem.
