Penelope had only been dating her current boyfriend for a couple of months, yet she found herself longing for the trip that she would be taking to his country in just a day less than a month from today. No, she had never met him, but they had known each other for a couple of years, and had become very close over the last one.
Something that she was afraid to admit to most people, however, was that she was also engaged to this same man, who was seven years her junior. It would probably come as a shock to her family, considering that they were already shocked about the fact that she was even dating him. The woman was still young, and they were concerned for her safety. However, Penelope was old enough, she felt, to make a proper judgement call on his character.
He was sort of an enigma, at first--quiet and reserved. Yet, as they got to spend more one-on-one time together, he began to open up more. She slowly found that he was actually rather witty and clever. He was also brutally honest, but somehow still very kind--offering apologies for nearly anything that might be seen as negative or insulting in the slightest.
