The service of the suffering humanity is the service of God. A person, who serves and helps another person in distress, is the happiest and the most satisfied one. When we do something good for others, we feel happy. When we bring comforts to others by ending their sufferings, we feel more delighted than they feel themselves. Such is the profession of a Doctor. He relieves his patients to severe pains and cries. He brings back to life his patients from the horrible and powerful jaws of death. The word 'Doctor' has become a symbol of 'Life'. No other service is as great, high, big and sacred as the service of a Doctor. If I were a Doctor, I would feel it as God given. I would not hesitate, like some Doctors, to go to some village hospital and serve the villagers there. I would be glad in urban as well as in rural hospitals. I would like to do Post Graduation and thus, serve the people more efficiently. Rain or shine, day or night, I would be happy to remove their pains.
I have seen Doctors enjoying their higher social and professional status and caring a fig for their patients. But I would be a Doctor with different attitude and behaviour towards my patients. I would be more interested in my patients than in my higher status and personal enjoyements. My higher social status and big pay would mean to me higher responsibility and better zeal of service. I would spend a part of my income on poor patients and would like to exploit my higher social status for the benefit and help of my patients. A big majority of Doctors have been seen enjoying city life at the cost of going to the village hospitals to serve the village life. They are able to manage Doctor, is more than the city people, who do not know even the basic health rules. I would prefer a village hospital for my work, to a city serve other necessary being the village hospitals presently dry, unequipped and deprived of even minimum necessities and essentials required for normal working atmosphere in such hospitals. My next priority would be to create congenial working conditions in the hospital. My next step, special efforts would be made to guide the villagers about their own cleanliness besides the cleanliness of their houses and surroundings as a measure to check up dirtiness for creating a healthy environment all around and thus ensure from disease.
