I extend my best wishes to the aspiring students who are taking a plunge into the new phase of their
educational endeavours this year! For those who want to chart the unconventional path, Pt. Lakhmi Chand
State University of Performing and Visual Arts (PLC SUPVA) is perhaps the only university in the
country which offers a bouquet of creative, specialized courses, with a clear-cut focus on skill
development. In a short span of time, the university has taken swift strides towards becoming a sanctuary
of creativity and professional training.
PLC SUPVA was conceived to facilitate and promote studies and research in emerging areas of
higher education with focus on new frontiers of design, fine arts, film & television and planning &
architecture to achieve excellence in these and allied fields. It offers industry-oriented undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes in these exciting domains, with an aim to nurture liberal, contemporary and
professional values in the students, where students get fine-tuned to the nuances of performing and visual
arts, and also get industry-ready.
The university also runs a foundation programme in the first year, which aims at orienting the
students to the allied areas in their discipline. The programme lays a strong foundation for the students
coming from diverse backgrounds. From the 2020-21 session, 14 certificate and diploma programmes had
also been started. These short-term programmes shall help students and working professional to hone
their skills, build expertise in their professional domain, and boost the career and livelihood prospects.
Since its inception in 2014, the university has garnered state-of-the-art infrastructure in terms of labs,
studios, library, classrooms and other infrastructural and IT amenities. Ample emphasis is given on
hands-on training and on establishing industry interface.
A lot of artists have emerged from the university, who have earned fame and reputation at the
national and international level. Even as a young university, we have travelled an exciting journey in
terms of preparing a generation that can truly make a difference! My best wishes to all the young aspiring
creative minds, who wish to enter the creative world of PLC SUPVA!
