Deletion of a non-basic variable is a totally suerfluous operation and does not affect the feasibility and/or optimality of the current optimal solutioin. However, deletion of a basic variable may affect the optimality and a new optimum sloution may have to be found out. For this, a heavy penality -M is assigned to the variable under consideration and the new optimum solution is obtained by applying regular simplex method to the (modified) current table.
