2. Search for Enlightenment After renouncing his kingdom, Siddhartha sought wisdom from renowned spiritual teachers such as Alara Kalama and Uddaka Ramaputta. Although he gained some knowledge, he found their teachings insufficient. He then practiced extreme asceticism for six years, enduring self-mortification in pursuit of enlightenment. However, he eventually realized that neither indulgence in luxury nor extreme asceticism would lead to true peace. At the age of 35, Siddhartha meditated under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, vowing not to rise until he attained the ultimate truth. After 49 days of deep meditation, he achieved Nirvana, a state of perfect wisdom, compassion, and liberation from the cycle of birth and death. He then became the Buddha, the Awakened One.
