The Beyonder, or more commonly known simply as the Beyonder, is the most powerful character ever created by Marvel Comics. In fact, Marvel themselves claim that the Beyonder is the second strongest character after the creator-avatar of Marvel, The One Above All. Here, I will discuss a bit about this character.
The Beyonder first appeared in the Secret Wars (1984) comic and continued in Secret Wars (1985). At the beginning of his appearance, the Beyonder was described as an omnipotent singular being originating from a different universe one that lies outside the scope of the Marvel universe, known as the Beyond Realm. In this comic, the Beyonder first observed the Marvel universe, which he found unique because of a concept that fascinated him: the concept of good and evil. To satisfy his curiosity, the Beyonder transported numerous superheroes and supervillains to a planet of his own making, created from fragments of various planets, called Battleworld. There, he tasked the heroes and villains to fight each other, promising to grant any wish they desired as a reward. However, things did not go smoothly. One of the villains, Dr. Doom, had ulterior motives to steal the Beyonder's power. Along with Galactus, Dr. Doom attacked the Beyonder and even managed to enter the Beyond Realm, where they were both easily defeated. At one point, the Beyonder ultimately allowed Dr. Doom to steal his power to better understand living beings he had never encountered in his own realm. After tasting the Beyonder's infinite power, Dr. Doom became unstable because such power was not meant for a human. Eventually, the Beyonder took back his strength, ended the fight on Battleworld, returned all the heroes and villains to their origins, and traveled to Earth to further understand the concepts of good and evil. This story continues in Secret Wars II (1985), which chronicles the Beyonder's journey to find his identity on Earth, leading to several conflicts with both heroes and villains.
Now, I will discuss just how powerful the Beyonder is to be considered the second strongest character after the creator of Marvel Comics. In terms of strength, the Beyonder is limitless. He has stated himself to be omnipotent; he can manifest anything he desires without moving a muscle. His power is so boundless that even the combined force of the entire Marvel Multiverse would not be enough to defeat him. The Beyonder possesses his own universe called the Beyond Realm, which exists outside the Marvel Multiverse. According to the Beyonder, the Beyond Realm is so vast millions of times larger than the Marvel universe that if the entire Marvel Multiverse were placed inside it, it would be no larger than a single bubble in a vast ocean. The Beyond Realm itself is a part of the Beyonder; without him, the Beyond Realm would not exist it would just be a white void. The Beyonder is also omniscient; he can instantly know anything he wishes, gaining all knowledge just by wanting it. He is also omnipresent; he mentioned he could be at the edge of the universe and on Earth simultaneously. He exists in every breath taken by every creature in the Marvel universe; he is among the stars and galaxies. To the Beyonder, there is no such thing as distance or location because he can be everywhere at once. His durability is also beyond comprehension. He once withstood the destructive power of Owen Reece, better known as Molecule Man the only character whose power could rival the Beyonder. At one point, Owen clashed with the Beyonder and fired an attack capable of destroying billions of planets and stars, countless galaxies, and infinite dimensions. The Beyonder took the hit without receiving a single scratch.
In terms of feats, while the Beyonder is not shown having many, the few he has are enough to demonstrate his greatness as the second strongest character in Marvel to the point where he had to be retconned or rewritten just to make him less overpowered.
Those are some fun facts about the Beyonder, one of the most powerful characters in Marvel and a rival to the creator of the Marvel universe himself. There are rumors that this character might appear in the next Avengers films, possibly in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars
