A Day at the Zoo
Cung had been looking forward to this day for weeks. He had secretly liked his friend Trang for a long time but had never found the courage to tell her. After thinking about it carefully, he decided to invite her to the zoo. He hoped that spending time together in such a relaxing place would give him the perfect chance to confess his feelings.
When Trang arrived, Cung couldn't hide his admiration.
Cung: "Hey Trang! You look stunning today."
Trang: "Hey Cung, thanks, nice to see you."
They entered the zoo together and soon arrived at the monkey enclosure. The monkeys were swinging happily from tree branches, entertaining everyone around them.
Trang: "I love monkeys, they are so cute and playful."
Cung: "Yeah, just like you."
Trang laughed at the compliment before looking at the lively animals.
Trang: "Yeah, well, I wish I was a monkey and could live in the jungle and play all day and enjoy the scenery."
Cung: "Maybe I could take you one day."
Trang: "That would be nice."
Cung smiled, feeling encouraged by their conversation. They continued walking until they reached the bird section, where they admired owls, peacocks, parrots, and even turkeys.
Cung: "This parrot has beautiful feathers."
Trang: "Look at that swan over there, what a gorgeous creature!"
Cung: "I think you are more beautiful."
Trang: "Haha, thanks. You are funny today."
As they walked farther into the zoo, a small rabbit suddenly ran across the path and disappeared into a bush.
Cung: "What's wrong?"
Trang: "Haha, oh Cung, you are so funny."
A little later, they stopped in front of the bear enclosure.
Trang: "Bears are so cute. I want to hug one!"
Cung: "Maybe you can hug me instead."
Trang: "Aw, thanks Cung."
Trang gave him a friendly hug, and Cung blushed. His heart was beating faster than ever.
After that, they arrived at a pond where two turtles were resting on a rock. One turtle was lying on top of another.
Cung: "Look, it looks like those turtles are in the process of 'breeding.'"
Trang: "Haha, oh my God, you are right! Oh look at the crocodiles, so scary!"
Instinctively, Trang grabbed Cung's arm because the crocodiles frightened her. Feeling hopeful, Cung thought this was finally the right moment to reveal his feelings. He leaned in to kiss her, but Trang quickly stepped back.
Cung: "What are you doing?"
Trang: "I like you, Cung, but not in that way. I thought you understood."
Cung looked confused and hurt.
Trang: "Oh, I'm sorry, Cung, but I am actually in love with Bach. He asked me to be his girlfriend, so I am faithful to him now. I'm so sorry."
For a few seconds, Cung stood there in silence. He felt embarrassed, disappointed, and heartbroken. Instead of accepting the rejection calmly, he let his emotions take control.
In a sudden burst of anger, Cung pushed Trang into the lake.
Cung: "Tell Bach I said 'Hi!'"
Trang: "Help!"
Without looking back, Cung walked away while Trang struggled in the water. Fortunately, nearby visitors immediately heard her cries and rushed over. Zoo staff quickly rescued Trang, and she was safe. Cung, however, had to face the consequences of his reckless actions. What had begun as a romantic confession ended as a painful lesson about handling rejection with maturity and respect.
