Honestly, I've always wished I could compartmentalize things better. Like, when something's weighing on my mind, I genuinely can't function; I can't focus, can't eat, nothing. And it's funny, because there's something kind of intoxicating about people who can just stay absorbed in their own thing no matter what's going on. My coworker's like that , she's really deeply occupied with pottery, and she just seems so self-contained, like she doesn't need anyone's approval to enjoy it. Meanwhile, my guy friends are the same way with stress something huge happens, and they don't let it show. They'll set it aside, go to work, hang out with friends, whatever, and somehow it stays in its lane. It doesn't touch the rest of their day. But for me,It's the total opposite. One bad thought spills into everything, bleeds into my whole life, my entire being. It's like these thoughts just flood every part of my day, and I can't hold back any of it. I get why hobbies matter so much now, though they're not frivolous at all. They're a real sanctuary, a space that belongs entirely to you, where you get to shape your own little world and actually get good at something just for yourself. There's real power in that.
