Already finding itself in tatters in every sphere of life, Pakistan is now hurtling towards an economic doom with the Asia-Pacific Group (APG), a regional affiliate of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), placing it in the"Enhanced Expedited Follow Up List (Blacklist)." It is a huge embarrassment for the Rogue State that has refused to mend its nefarious ways of supporting terrorism emanating from its soil. The APG assessment report can indirectly impact Pakistan's position to move out of the FATF grey list when the global watchdog for terror financing and money laundering takes a final call on Islamabad's future in its October plenary. The blacklist also begins a huge economic nightmare for Pakistan. The APG meeting in Canberra found that Pakistan was noncompliant on 32 of the 40 compliance parameters of terror financing and money laundering. Islamabad's anti-India rhetoric post the Balakot strikes and abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir have found no takers except its "deeper than ocean friend" China. The latest embarrassment for Pakistan's political and military leadership has come as a bodyblow even as the country is licking the wounds of a mortification in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) which refused to take up the Kashmir issue for a formal discussion. It should act as a rude jolt for Mr. Imran Khan and the military bosses whose chagrin over India's historic move in Kashmir has escalated into a silly war rhetoric. The present dispensation is at its wits' end in arresting the economic slide. At present, it is living on doles from old friends like Saudi Arabia and seeking monetary aid from multilateral lenders like the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and Asian Development Bank. FATF blacklist will translate into a back-breaking downgrade for Pakistan and immediate clampdown on financial help from any of the lenders. Reality is not lost on a section of wise minds in Pakistan. Unfortunately, such people are in terrible minority and at the receiving end of the excesses of the political-military nexus who term this section as woolly-headed idealists. It is just a matter of time when Pakistan wakes up to the reality and finds itself embroiled in an implosion. For India, it is another wonderfully earned victory through aggressive diplomacy.
