With birth he was dedicated to a Gopalak. Gopalak raised him in Goshala like his son. When he grew up, he sold him to a hunter. He grew up in the hunters village and kept it for animal care. Due to his talent, he soon gained prominence among his adult boys. He became the king of the congregation of boys and decided their quarrels. Similarly one day while he was busy in a game called Rajkilam Chanakya left from there. With his subtle eyes, he anticipated the future qualities of this child. He bought Chandragupta by giving me to Taxila with Chandragupta. Taxila was the main center of learning at that time and Chanakya was the teacher there. He duly taught Chandragupta all the arts and disciplines. Very soon he became proficient in all disciplines.

It was also well versed in the field of warfare. It seems that he had met Alexander, one of the great conquerors of his time, while taking military education at Taxila and it was a part of his military training. Writers like Plutarch and Justin have given very interesting details about this. Justin tells us that Alexander was greatly disgusted by his candor and ordered him to be killed, but he quickly saved his life by running away. Although there is a difference of opinion among the historians that Chandragupta and Chanakya first fought the Greeks in northwest India or destroyed the Nandas of Magadha, however  the indications from the Greek-Roman and Buddhist evidences prove that Chandragupta had earlier in Punjab And only Sindh was freed from the slavery of foreigners. Kautilya has condemned foreign rule in his economics and called it a curse for country and religion. Chandragupta used the means available wisely and waged a national war against foreigners. He organized a large army for this task.
