The Constitution has been praised for adding fundamental rights. These days  the development of a state is calculated by the rights that are spread among its population. Fundamental rights in the Indian Constitution have been given to the public with the condition that all successful laws enforcing these rights can be held unconstitutional.
However the fundamental rights specified in the constitution have been heavily criticized. Some critics went on to say that the constitution makers in India have conferred rights with one hand and taken from the other. A part of the constitution is devoted to fundamental rights, which Indians can take advantage of during normal times. However these rights can be kept away from them during emergencies. Rights include, inter alia the right to freedom of assembly association trust expression etc. The courts of law are able to declare any law which is unconstitutional of these rights when required. Such action can only be used when a citizen is equipped by a citizen to review a law or executive order. After the French Revolution and the American War of Independence the need to provide fundamental rights to the citizens of India was felt. This was when nations around the world thought of giving some necessary rights to their citizens.  At the Round Table  Conference held in  London the demand for fundamental rights was emphasized. Later at the Second Round Table Conference  a memorandum was circulated by Mahatma Gandhi guaranteeing its inclusion  protecting their culture language script  occupation, education and religious practice and protecting the rights of minorities.
In 1947 after independence the constituent assembly pledged for future rule. It called for a constitution that guaranteed all the people of India  justice, social economic and political equality equal opportunity, freedom of thought, expression  faith worship, faith, association action under law and public morality.  It guaranteed special facilities for the minorities backward classes and scheduled castes.
