Most of us in today's generation are becoming self-centric. We are getting demarcated by our own world of needs and priorities and as a result we are not ready to adjust with anyone on the other side of the world. From our childhood, we are being given the best education and are asked always to move forward with an aim to stand as an ambitious person. Well, obviously education is important. To bring development we need to be properly literate and with that our motto should be to stand on our own foot as an independent person. But somehow in the present generation, the concept of being 'independent' has become absurd.
In the ravenous competitive world, while indulging ourselves in gaining independence or achieving high status, we are slowly getting detached from the importance of living in joint families. Because right after we are gaining identity or becoming a successful man most of us are moving away from our family, settling ourselves in some better city, better country or some better apartments, checking our own comfort or obtaining better life. And while heading towards forming a nuclear family, we are possessing ego-centric and selfseeking personalities, which are creating a faulty attitude in us. In the bygone era, when there were twenty-five members in a family, children's behaviour was shaped in such a way where they knew the importance of sharing and caring between each other. They were taught to adjust and cooperate among themselves. They grew up in an environment, where they know how to stand next to someone, who is in need. Children and the present youngsters are very much in need to realise the importance of affinity for one's own family, elders, relatives, cousins and friends. To conclude with Anthony Liccione's quote "Everyone needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home."
