Janice was finally in her room, her fan on full blast trying to beat the stupid heat, unusual for this time of year. She had spent the day cleaning up her yard and tidying up things and the heat had made every little task seem harder than it was.   She wanted to just lie back on her comfy bed and get back to reading that spine tingling screamer she had picked up the day before but it was too hot and humid to really get into it so she decided to just sit at her desk and practice her typing speed. She really enjoyed this one website where she could practice on someone else's text and sometimes she found interesting stories to type up and keep her entertained.  She booted up her computer and sat down and started doing a typing test to warm up...she then clicked on the typing practice texts and scrolled for a bit until she found something interesting and spooky which fit her current mood perfectly. She clicked on it and suddenly felt a shock come  up from the mouse. "OW!" she gasped as she grabbed at her hand. It looked red as if she had been burned..but the mouse seemed fine. She tried it again and nothing happened. "That was weird.." she muttered under her breath as she tentatively clicked the story again. It started simple enough, it was about a young girl walking home alone at night and something was following her.  As she typed along the story described how an alley cat sent a trash can crashing to the floor and as she typed it out she heard a loud crash downstairs and nearly had a heart attack. She does not own a cat. She raced downstairs after grabbing a bat out of her hallway closet and with it in hand went down to investigate. The lights were off downstairs and she did not sense any movement. She tiptoed around the main hallway towards the kitchen and flipped on the light and..nothing...she went to the glass doors that led to the patio and flipped on the light to outside and then promptly dropped the bat, almost hitting her bare feet. Outside her freshly cleaned yard her trash can had seemed to be violently thrown across the grass and its contents thrown everywhere making a huge mess. "WHAT THE HELL!" she screamed, not scared anymore, just very mad. All that day's work for nothing!  She sighed resigned to the fact that she would have to fix the yard all over again tomorrow because of some stupid raccoon or cat. She picked up the bat again and begrudgingly set out to her room but not before checking if all the doors were locked. She sat down once again at her desk and went back to typing to get her mind out of what had just happened. In the story she was typing the girl had ran to her home and was hiding from her stalker..she typed as the woman in the story was in her bathroom getting ready to brush her teeth when a noise startled her causing her to drop her toothpaste and toothbrush and the cup they were in all over the floor.   Suddenly with no warning Janice's hair stood on end as she heard another crash...this time coming from her bathroom that was connected to her bedroom.  She nearly jumped out her skin and went quickly to investigate. As soon as she walked in all her bath toiletries that rested on her counter were all over the floor and she had no cat or raccoon to blame. She was completely flabbergasted and speechless. She could do nothing but pick everything up and place them back on the counter with shaking hands.  "I must be going crazy..it has to be this heat...maybe the counter was wet and things just slid off..." she said to herself desperately looking for some rational explanation.  She sat back down at her desk staring at the words in front of her correlating them with the events of the night and shook her head..."Nothing but a coincidence" she thought to herself. She decided to just shake off the feeling of dread that threatened to take her over and started working on her typing again.  As she read how the main character was finally stalked and killed ...Janice heard footsteps coming up the stairs..
