On a pica-type machine,margins set at 12 and 77 will give a 60-spacet line These settings allow 5 extra spaces for the ringing of the bell. Count 12 elites for 10 pica spaces to a horizontal inch and 6 lines to vertical inch. A full-sized sheet of paper has 66 lines; a half sheet has 33 lines. A 4-inch line has 40 pica or 48 elite spaces.
