The quality of a person's typing cannot realistically be judged with many online tests. Like those found on 10fastfingers, they simply provide you with a series of common words in your chosen language for you to bash out as quickly as you can. This is not a scenario you will be presented with often in your educational or professional life, so the speed at which you type in those tests may not be a true reflection of your ability. It is better, therefore, to practice writing out a section of prose from a novel or an article (be it from a magazine, a newspaper or a website); not only will it serve to provide you with an accurate score, but it will also help you find your way around a keyboard's numerical and punctuational keys, thus standing you in better stead for when you need to impress a potential employer. If you do not practice your test on a site that requires you to enter the correct punctuation as well as the correct spelling, you may want to manoeuvre your way out of the firing line should the situation present itself in the future.
