One popular statement is that the working days should be reduced, and conversely, there should be more off days for workers. I do not agree with the statement, although I believe there are other ways to encourage workers.

First of all, currently the five-day working week is known to be the standard benchmark worldwide, which raises the question of whether it should be shortened or not. Many workers feel that it is so tiring to work for five days a week, while the employers don't agree with them. Secondly, the workers demand more weekends so that they can spend more time with their family and rest well enough to get ready for the following week.

However, I think this idea of having longer weekends has few drawbacks. To begin with, the production rate will go down significantly if there are fewer working days. This could lead to the increase of daily working hours, which will eventually drain more energy from the workers. Moreover, getting back to work from a longer weekend surely needs mental preparation and willpower. People have to refocus on their job all over again, consequently disrupting the flow of tasks.

One better idea, I think, is to move those two weekend days between the week, one in a two-day interval and another one in three days. It will provide workers short periods, which hopefully allow them to reduce their stress and gather vital energy for the upcoming working days. Another alternative idea could be the reduction of daily working hours instead of working days. Shortening working periods not only helps workers to be more focused on their job but also allows them ample time to enjoy their leisure.

In conclusion, we should explore more practical and effective ideas in terms of working schedules rather than reducing the number of working days in a week.
