Claire indeed raises a meaningful point about the importance of cost, but from my perspective, purchasing goods produced in one’s own country is by far the better choice for both individuals and the nation. To begin with, when people buy domestic products, they directly support small businesses. For instance, about ten years ago, I began buying bread from a tiny bakery that had just opened in my neighborhood. Thanks to the steady support of local customers, that small shop expanded into a large and profitable store. Without such community purchases, the business would likely have failed instead of flourishing.
Furthermore, buying national products promotes the recognition and expansion of local industries worldwide, even if those products are slightly more expensive. This not only improves the livelihood of citizens but also enhances the reputation and value of the country in the global market. Therefore, purchasing local goods benefits everyone in the long run.
