The story of the Bheels and Arjuna is set in the post-Mahabharata period, where Arjuna's divine powers were eroded after Sri Krishna's return to his abode; at this time a group of bandits (Bhils) attacked Arjuna, rendering him helpless due to lack of his powers, and his wives were plundered, symbolizing the change of time and the waning of Krishna's influence, and this incident reminded Arjuna of the end of his duty and the beginning of Kali Yuga.
Synopsis of the story:
Departure of Sri Krishna: After the Kurukshetra war, when Lord Sri Krishna returned to his abode, the power of the Pandavas and the effect of the divine weapons also started decreasing, because all those powers belonged to Sri Krishna.
Arjuna's test: Once when Arjuna was taking Sri Krishna's wives from Dwaraka to Indraprastha, a group of bandits (Bhils) attacked them on the way.
Lack of power: Without Lord Krishna, Arjuna's divine weapons and Gandiva bow lost their effectiveness. The Bhils defeated Arjuna with ordinary bows and arrows and took away his wives.
The Changing Times: This incident was a harsh lesson for Arjuna. Maharishi Vyasa explained to him that the Kali Yuga had begun, and along with Krishna, his powers had also been lost. Arjuna's duty had been accomplished, and times had changed.
Symbolic meaning: This incident demonstrates how power, wealth, and material strength are fleeting, and how time is the ultimate force. It symbolizes the end of Arjuna's ego and the change of era, where even a common Bhil could overpower the great warrior Arjuna.
Key Points:-
Arjuna's defeat shows the decline of power and the effects of time.
This event marked the ascension of the Pandavas to heaven and the advent of Kaliyuga.
It shows that without divine power, even the greatest warriors can be defeated under ordinary circumstances.
