Women moved about freely in society; there was no purdah. Most of the people preferred clothes which were white and fresh looking. Women wore long robes. The caste system was strong and rigid as ever and the Shards were not treated well. Large contributions in money and kind were made to the monasteries by the people. Harsh royal kitchens provided food for a thousand Buddhists and five hundred Brahmans every day. A village was the smallest unit of the community. It was generally self sufficient. Harsh became a Buddhist in last life, but he continued to worship Lord Shiva and the Sun God, Surya. Each five years, he went on a pilgrimage to Praying. While there, he gave everything he had. Villages live in a poor and unhygienic condition. Most houses own some animals like cows, buffaloes, etc. for milk. They have to feed these animals too. These animals make the place dirty. In the villages, there are proper roads and lights are not there. Now, in most of the villages, electricity has largely been reached which has made their life better. Villagers tolerate all the seasons, like summers, rains and winter with great difficulty. They don have proper means to live their life conveniently. They are used to working hard and meeting their ends. The main reason for this is that they are uneducated. The government is now making policies for the better- mint of the villagers. They are now setting up schools, colleges, hospitals, dispensaries, post offices, etc. to make the villages self-sufficient. Introduction to new advancements and technology is also given to make the villagers aware of the outside world. Many schools are there for the adults which are conducted in the evening. Do not worry, be happy. Take out all the worries from your mind. So always be happy, Worry makes you tense and affects the nerves. Whereas laughing and being happy will keep the whole body fit. Life is like a bicycle, when it is not moving it falls. A smile creates happiness. It costs nothing but gives a lot. It enriches those who give. We must live and enjoy every minute, every second of life. Where there are sorrows in our life, there is also happiness. A life of sacrifice is art and is full of true joy. Until we taste the sorrow, we will not be able to know the meaning of true happiness
