Most Common Connectors
1. Although (aunque)
Introduces a direct contrast or unexpected fact.
Example:
Although it was raining, we walked anyway.
Although she's tired, she'll keep working.
2. Despite / In spite of (a pesar de)
Introduces a contrast where one thing happens even with the presence of an obstacle.
It is followed by a noun, pronoun, or gerund.
Example:
He succeeded despite the challenges.
Despite the rain, we walked anyway.
3. However (sin embargo)
Used to introduce a statement that contrasts with or seems surprising based on the previous sentence.
Example:
We aren't ready. However, let's do it anyway.
I studied for hours. However, I'm still not prepared.
4. Due to
Shows the cause or reason for something.
It is followed by a noun or noun phrase.
Example:
The concert was canceled due to poor weather.
I missed the meeting due to a family emergency.
5. Meanwhile (mientras tanto)
Connects two events that are happening at the same time.
Example:
She cooked dinner. Meanwhile, he set the table.
